Dry stone bench and stone retaining wall – Edinburgh

This was quite a straight-forward small job – the client was really keen on a rustic dry stone bench to give a focal point to the garden. We spent some time discussing the meaning of rustic and a longer time in correspondence trying to find the right stone.

As well as building the bench, I built a low retaining wall to take away a difficult to mow section of lawn, repaired some of the stone steps and rebuilt a low wall of York stone at the back of the summer house.

The stone was supplied by the Hutton Stone Co. Ltd.
