Project Description
I was tasked with making a large paved area with a dry stone walls for sitting on in this garden in Newington in Edinburgh.
The design called for a long sweeping low wall with a flat top enclosing a raised paved area. One section had a raised bed and the other enclosed part of the garden that would have wooden sleeper beds. There is a small area of shaped cap stones for placing a pizza oven, a couple of small planting areas built into the patio and a water feature.
The actual design of this dry stone job in Edinburgh changed a couple of times as the job progressed. This is fairly common as clients see progress and minor changes are made to heights and curves.
The Alston stone from Border Aggregrates makes for a pleasing dry stone wall. The large flag stones from Ladycross quarry look solid and are a great compliment to the walls. Indian sandstone paving completed the materials.
